IT Transition Manager

In this position, you will be

We’re transforming public transportation while designing and implementing the future S-train system.

IT plays an increasingly important role in everything DSB does. Starting the correct projects is key to realizing the highest potential value for DSB.

You will be in charge of IT deliveries and collaborate with your future colleagues in the Strategy & Rolling Stock team to achieve high-quality results in upcoming S-train projects.

Meet Your Team and Partners You will join the IT Group Functions; we oversee deliveries to the Future S-Train through a matrix organization with +40 participants across all IT departments at DSB.

DSB's entire IT organization covers about 400 colleagues.

You will report directly to the Director of IT Group Functions, Anders. Together we represent IT in the business unit Strategy and Rolling Stock.

Your closest peer is Erik, who works in a parallel role towards the IC5 Train Program.

You will have close partners in various forums

  • The program managers in Strategy & Rolling Stock - your key stakeholders.
  • The leadership team in Group Functions will be your colleagues and sparring partners.
  • Our IT program and project managers, whom you'll collaborate with, guide, and assist.
  • External strategic IT development partners and colleagues in the transport industry will become part of your network in Denmark and abroad.
Strategic Link, Program Manager, and Trusted Advisor You and Anders (Director of Group Functions) will serve as the strategic link between IT and Strategy and Rolling Stock, who are ultimately responsible for the future S-train.

In your role, you are strategically and tactically accountable for our IT program portfolio.

This entails that you

  • ensure transparency in your project portfolio and maintain ongoing dialogue with project sponsors within the program and across DSB IT's organization.
  • support business targets and governance with deadlines and budget, and risk management with mitigating actions.
  • anticipate business needs and suggest appropriate IT solutions and services.

As a trusted advisor to decision-makers in program management, you support balancing the development portfolio to include initiatives that provide the most value for DSB – considering both risks and benefits.

You will oversee IT deliveries to the S-train in terms of

  • Strategic coherence to the IT operating model
  • Transparency towards the executive level
  • Incorporation of PRINCE2® principles across all projects
  • Collaboratively developed tactical roadmaps with Strategy & Rolling Stock
  • Adherence to and optimal utilization of the budgets
On a Typical Day, You Will
  • Join unscheduled discussions with the program stakeholders to strategize upcoming initiatives and identify key risks for the steering group's awareness.
  • Guide new project managers about how we produce reporting material for the steering group.
  • Share your thoughts about governance with the program manager in a parallel program.
  • Draw up a couple of PowerPoint slides for the Director of Strategy & Rolling Stock board about executive reporting.
  • Facilitate and implement certain operational tasks, such as escalations with various project managers.

As a member of the Future S-train steering group, you are the role model for standardization and improvement of the project management toolbox.

Who Are You? You are motivated by transitioning the organization by optimizing processes, governance, and systems in IT project management and one program.

You have solid experience with

  • Program management of IT programs in a large and complex organization
  • Matrix management and business partnering (perhaps also IT line management)
  • A scalable project management method, such as PRINCE2®
  • Getting your message across via reporting, oral presentations, PowerPoints, and executive decision proposals. Even when facing headwinds.

You can probably tick off these characteristics

  • A personal commitment and an eagerness to get ahead.
  • Proficient in building relationships and skilled at steering colleagues and teams at multiple organizational levels.
  • Able to address the fundamental needs of the program before engaging in strategic debates.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to solve operational issues pragmatically.
