The Department of Business Development and Technology (BTECH) at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University invites applications for assistant professorship positions in the three fields: marketing, digitalisation and organisation.
An assistant professorship is a three-year full-time position. The starting date is 1 September 2026 or as agreed upon.
Assistant professors divide their time equally between research and teaching activities. The successful candidates will become part of the AIROD research section.
Job description
We are seeking candidates who can strengthen our research profile. A significant part of our work involves collaboration with business partners, and we often engage in applied research. Therefore, it is important that candidates pursue research topics relevant to modern companies, and those with research activities involving industry will be preferred.
We expect candidates to have a strong academic background and to be able to contribute to one or more of the following domains:
Marketing management
Digital marketing
Digital business development
Digital technologies in organisations
Digital transformation
Digital governance
Organisation
Organisational communication
Strategy
Candidates are expected to teach and supervise students at bachelor’s and master’s levels.
Our study programme portfolio includes MSc programmes, a bachelor’s degree programme in economics and business administration as well as industry-oriented training.
Your qualifications
Employment as an assistant professor requires a PhD degree in a relevant field.
Applicants must have produced research that is either published in peer-reviewed international journals or is close to publication.
Applicants must have conducted research relevant to modern businesses and to the position.

The evaluation process
Shortlisting is applied. This means that an appointment committee (assisted by the chair of the assessment committee) advises the head of department on which applicants possess the qualifications, competencies, experience and potential described above under “Your qualifications”, notably in fields with specific departmental research and teaching needs.
Through the shortlisting process, the head of department selects the applicants who will receive a thorough assessment of their professional qualifications. The applicants will then be assessed by an expert assessment committee. All applicants will be notified whether or not their application has been shortlisted and forwarded to the assessment committee for evaluation. Shortlisted applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee.

The appointment is made in accordance with the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities as well as the circular on the Collective Agreement for Academics Employed by the State (in Danish).
